Work is progressing!

Well, The Hubby took a week off to do some damage to the house...he went up yesterday...got there about noon time...His sister came to lend a hand, and they did a load of work!

Two of the four bedrooms are completely empty..all the plaster and lathe are down. The third bedroom has 1/2 of the walls down, and he is pretty happy with the results. He found himself an easier way to do the gutting...and it is definitely working!

The dumpster comes tomorrow, but the forecast says rain for three days...not good. If that plaster gets all wet in the dumpster, Hubby is afraid it will add poundage to the load..I am being charged $70 per ton. Think plaster can accumulate a ton of water?

I told him to continue just letting the plaster sit on the floors, till there is hope of dryer weather...or else he will probably have to pay for a tarp to cover it..and at that it could cost a good $70.!

Anyway, I have no pics yet..but Hubby swears he has been taken them..and has loads for me to see!

I'll keep ya posted!

Finally started something!

Well, we went to the new house, with all intention of just removing some old chimneys, hidden behind the walls, and just sitting in the attic, adding weight that isn't necessary..and before we correct a structure problem in the cellar, we thought it best to remove the added weight sitting on those beams.

So..we did. (Laughing) although we accomplished a lot, I am afraid, I had the first casualty..My Husband went up into the attic, and as he knocked bricks off, he piled them into buckets...lowering those buckets down to me, (by rope) so I could take them out to the garage, and dump them, then sending them back up to him.

Well...after about 11 buckets, and things were going great...one broke loose of the rope, at ceiling height. and came crashing down...on to....my toe! (ouch)

Well...I'll live. It's sore...may be broken, quite swollen...and I know the nail is a gonner...actually it's a nice shade of aqua right now, but..things happen!

Now I took some new pictures of the house, two different views...

While we were there, my Husbands Sister stopped in...to lend a hand..which was so sweat and unexpected (did I say sweat? LOL I meant sweet...but yes there was sweat involved!), so she started to remove the plaster from behind the chimney in the wall, that we were taking out, and as long as she was there...she started on the walls, which all have to come out anyway, and she did a great job!

It's a messy job, but it's going great! It was so nice of her to come over and help out!

So, we got things started, and more will be getting done in a couple of weeks, my Husband took a week off from work, so he can plough through the walls!

OH...I got the estimate from the Electrician too! it's pricey...$14,000. (us) pinch me..pinch me...

Maybe a kitchen?

OK...I may be dreaming, but we thought about some things...a bit...

Since we have to completely remove all the plaster from the walls...we thought maybe, since the kitchen was oh so far away from the rest of the house...I mean, if you are in the kitchen, you seem to be all alone in the world, so....we thought, dreamily ...that we could do a bit of rearranging!

OK..it seems like a lot to me...but as long as we were there, we would move the bathroom from where it is, and relocate it..and open up the kitchen/dining room area a bit.

This picture is just a thought process..what we would like the kitchen to look like. If you look at the photo, the sink is actually in the corner, but we had to show it in a straight line, for the drawing process.

We will also like to have an island, across from the sink, kind of on an odd shape, when it's all drawn up, I will display it.

I guess you have seen the cabinet doors are all bead boarded. Well, we are hoping to reclaim all the wood from the present kitchen walls/ceiling!

It all has to come down to have the electric installed, so we are hoping to remove it carefully, clean it up, and make the doors with it...are we dreaming? I hope not.

There is a load of that wood on the walls, it should save us loads of $$ ! Hopefully.

No news...is it good news?

OK, been waiting on the Electrician...it was two weeks on Monday, and DH wants me to call him for some news.

I am not prepared to actually have the work done yet, so I am kind of.....procrastinating.

I know, I was told, it would take about 1 1/2 weeks to get the estimate..but it's a lot of house, and maybe it's a bit more than he wants to do? I hope not. Actually, I recall him thanking us for thinking of him for the job..so I am hoping it is just taking a bit more time than he anticipated to come up with a number.

I'm home this weekend..but the following weekend we are going up to the house..we have some things to do..and a lot of snow to shovel (sigh)

Welp..as soon as I hear about the cost for new electric..I'll be back, unless we make a visit to the house by then ...hmmm till next time!

I've been tagged??????

Oh no! I've been tagged by Loulee

I have no clue what it means, other than I am supposed to tag someone else...7 someone elses??? Other than Loulee's Blog, the only other blog I read is Pam's.

I don't know who else to tag! I hope Loulee doesn't hold me responsible for keeping this going, for I don't have many interests, to read blogs about them.

So...to hold up to my part for a few moments..I will start the form, but I need some time to consider who I can tag.

The Rules

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about you on your blog
4. Tag 7 people and link to them
5. Comment on their blog and let them know they have been tagged.

The facts

1. I have a creative mind, but can't express the creativity. I'm the thought process.
2. I don't like to spend money (I hate random shopping, or window shopping)
3. I am generous to a fault. (or if I have money, I like to give)
4. I don't normally receive gifts, so it makes me uncomfortable to receive them.
5. I like to read interesting books.
6. I can't type well.
7. I can take a lot of *stuff* before I break.

OK, here is where the problem comes in, the only other person I can think of to tag is
1. Jamie over at Stars are shining Bright
2. Meri over at The Meri Wanderer
( I know she doesn't update her blog much, so I am not sure if she will see this.)
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

I'm sorry, I am not avid at reading blogs, but I will update if I can think of more.

As for the house now..hmmm...We have a serious leak in the sun porch roof. I am trying to get Hubby to go back this weekend and try to cover it over, as to keep the thaw out. He is not anxious to go back, but other than this trip, the next trip will be to start ripping out the plaster...I didn't want him to have to waste a day fixing the roof first, so it is imperative he get there asap! (He doesn't see it this way though)

My son, who was going to move in our house, to help fix, has decided to head South instead. He is moving to Florida, in Two weeks!! I guess we are on our own!! (Laughing) I have to start lifting weights!

Home again!

Saturday morning, rise and shine at 5:30am. Finally got off at 6:30, had to make a bagel run, and they open at 6am.

Stopped home some bagels for the kids, and off we went.

The electrician came, he thought it best to gut all the rooms, so he can put the electric where it need be..more cnveniently..since there are wires running all over inside the walls.

I think it's best for us that way also..we can tear down the dried out plaster walls..

You know when you rip down wallpaper, how it falls like an accordion...oh..but not here..it comes off like thick pieces of cardboard >>sigh<<,

I placed some photos in my picturetrail album if you are curious to see them. I took lots, and only posted 30.

Now..we were almost home...just paying the toll at the toll booth..when the cell phone rings..it's home calling..emergency ...hmmm...the toilet over flowed, and the water was pouring into the kitchen below...OH HOW SPECIAL!

Luckily, we only had a 30 minute ride left...now..I'm exhausted!
